Came home today and our First Alert model 9120B smoke detector/fire alarm was chirping 5 times every 45 seconds. Changed the battery like Youtube said, but to no avail.
Turns out it was the carbon monoxide detector located near the smoke detector that had gone bad. 9120B smoke detectors chirp 3 times when their having issues, not 5 times. Thanks to the First Alert hotline for figuring this out (1-800-323-9005 option 1).

No I don't think so. The alarm device with CO warning has an "end of life" feature built in since august 1 2009. When not it does not meet the industrial standards and is unfit for professional application or it does not meet requirements like for insurance. The end of life feature causes the 5 beeps not being described in the manual or the instructions on the back of the device. It can be disabled with the button for days, like other warnings, then it keeps beeping. Oh... how long is a CO detector or CO/Smoke detector going to last according its internal clock? For 60, 72 or 120 months! When placing the batteries it will be a that long wait. Perhaps you are better off with buying separately; a smoke detector and a canary.
Mitch, thank you so much for this post. Since 1:30 am today, we've been going crazy trying to find what is beeping 5 times every 45 seconds. I googled "beeping 5 times every 45 seconds" and found your post. Problem solved.
Thank you!!
